Faith Trends
According to new research from Barna, 29% of U.S. adults believe a spiritual revival is likely in the near future, with that number rising to 38% among Gen Z.
The study also highlights a growing sense of spiritual openness, with many respondents indicating increased interest in prayer, faith conversations, and a search for deeper meaning in their lives.
While not a majority, these findings point to a notable shift in perception, particularly among younger generations often assumed to be disengaged from faith.
Why It Matters
These insights suggest that beneath broader trends of declining affiliation, there may be a growing openness to spiritual engagement.
For ministries and nonprofit organizations, this represents both an opportunity and a responsibility. While curiosity may be increasing, connection is not guaranteed. Many individuals exploring faith may do so independently, without immediately engaging in a church community or structured discipleship.
This creates a critical window for ministries to be present and accessible, with a clear message, so they can meet people where they are in their spiritual journey.
Next Steps
As signs of spiritual curiosity emerge, now is the time to evaluate how your ministry is positioned to respond. Are you creating clear pathways for those who are searching to take their next step in faith?
How are you seeing signs of spiritual curiosity in your audience right now? I’d love to learn what you’re noticing.
