Workplace Trends
Did you know approximately one in four US employees have been recruited by another organization in the past three months?
At the end of July 2024, Gallup shared recruitment data showcasing what has changed in the modern workplace and what standards organizations must meet for job seekers.
Despite market shifts and economic pressures, recruitment rates are consistent and finding top talent is a major focus for many organizational leaders.
Since the pandemic, recruitment has shifted online through professional networking sites such as LinkedIn, online job sites such as Indeed, and career service agencies.
Why This Matters
Gallup’s data reports employees who were recently recruited through online professional networking sites, job sites, and career service agencies are significantly more likely to leave their organization than those recruited through other methods, such as word of mouth or professional communities.
In addition, many charitable organizations and ministries assume people are drawn to work there because of the mission and purpose of the organization. But this recent data shows that to only be a small factor in the decision. Much more important to new recruits is a strong alignment between their skills/interests and the job advertisement.
Next Steps
In order to reach qualified candidates searching passively for new roles, organizations will benefit from having a strong digital presence with clear and descriptive job titles, as well as job advertisements that accurately and realistically describe responsibilities, relevant skills, and potential development paths.
