Social Media Stats for NonProfits (that Matter)

Social Media Trends

Did you know Facebook posts reach only 1.4% of their followers on average?

Have you heard that Facebook/Meta has an average cost per lead of $4.44 compared to $49.28 on TikTok?

Were you aware that only 53% of nonprofits spend money on social media advertising, and of those, 98% spend on Facebook?

And how about this: 13% of nonprofits with active X (Twitter) accounts are planning to leave the platform or sunset their account in some way. Is this a surprise?

Why This Matters

There are a lot of statistics that sound impressive but don’t mean much. And there are a lot of ways to waste time and money on social media. But social media also presents a great opportunity to reach a vast audience, generate awareness, and inspire donations.

So where’s the line? How do nonprofits best use social media? And which platforms are worth investing in these days?

Part of my role at Eaglecom is to help ministries determine how to use social media in ways that generate new names and income that help drive their mission forward. This is accomplished by creating a strategic marketing plan that includes social media, keeping a close eye on the data, and staying up to date on the latest social media trends.

Next Steps

One of the most exciting aspects of digital marketing is how much data is at your disposal—you can track almost anything if you have the right tools. However, collecting data is only the beginning. It’s useless unless you analyze and apply it to your specific situation.
