The Week of Hugs, Gifts, and Cowboy Boots!
Several times last week at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention (NRB) in Nashville, people heard me say something that may have sounded surprising:
This is the most important week of the year for our company. Because we BUILD RELATIONSHIPS HERE!
If you had followed the Eaglecom team through the convention halls, you might have wondered whether we were attending a media conference or hosting a reunion. There were smiles across crowded corridors, arms open in greeting, and more than a few joyful “It’s so good to see you!” moments.
We hugged broadcasters, ministry leaders and industry friends throughout the week.
I could also be quoted for saying “we come for hugs and leave gifts”! Our small tokens of appreciation were meant to simply say “thank you” for trusting us, sharing mission with us and for your faithful partnership. You are clients and media partners, and also friends.
Hugs and gifts are our way of saying; we value you and what God allows us to do together in ministry.
Important conversations took place last week at NRB. We talked about generational shifts in media habits as well as the continued movement from broadcast to streaming and digital platforms. We explored how donor expectations are evolving and how ministries can remain effective in a rapidly changing landscape.
Every strategy discussion mattered as we united in knowing how the industry is changing quickly, and wise adaptation is essential.
It was so good to discuss these topics together! There is something powerful about being physically present and sharing a meal, a hug and a gift! Emails and Zoom calls keep projects moving, but time together strengthens the foundation underneath the work.
One week at NRB gives us 51 other weeks of smooth communication and collaborative campaign execution. It truly makes a difference.
I love media, marketing and ministry. I love studying trends and helping ministries navigate an ever-changing environment. I appreciate all that I learn from my friends and colleagues at NRB and for how others pour their wisdom into my mind.
It may be a cliché, but I truly believe we are better together…as a team…on mission…to change lives.
I look forward to my 29th NRB convention next year. My kids have grown up knowing I attend a convention called NRB. They don’t know exactly what I do there, but they know I come back with cowboy boots for my grandchildren!
