Workplace Trends
We’ve all heard the headlines, “artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming workplaces across industries.” But is this true?
A recent Gallup article titled, AI in the Workplace: Answering 3 Big Questions, analyzes the actual uptake of AI in the workplace. Their study, released in October 2024, found only 33% of U.S. employees say AI is being integrated into their business practices.
What’s even more interesting, is 67% of U.S. employees say they never use AI in their role, although white-collar workers are more likely to use AI than those working in other jobs.
Why This Matters
It’s easy to assume everyone is using AI and if you’re not, then you’re behind the times. This is simply not the case. Even for those currently using AI, it’s more for task automation and idea generation than it is for outsourcing or innovating.
The study also found that 32% of employees are very uncomfortable with the idea of using AI in their roles. From 2023 to 2024, Gallup reports, “the number of employees who say they are very prepared to work with AI dropped by six percentage points.”
Next Steps
It’s clear AI is here to stay, but for it to be adopted on a large scale in the workplace, it will have to be championed by leadership. For this to be done successfully, leaders must clearly communicate the plan for integration, set transparent guidelines, and provide proper training. Consider setting up an AI Council within your organization, as we’ve discussed here.

I’d love to hear what tools your workplace finds helpful if you’re currently using AI.
