Founded by Dr. Angus Reid, the Angus Reid Institute is one of North America’s premier nonpartisan, not-for-profit research and public opinion polling organizations.
As Executive Director, Shachi Kurl can be found offering analysis on CBC’s “At Issue,” Canada’s most-watched political panel, as well as in The Globe and Mail, the National Post, and other influential forums. At the Institute, Shachi works to further public knowledge, debunk myths, and contribute to debate and discussion in meaningful ways, enhancing the understanding of issues that matter to Canada and the world. She brings nearly two decades of public policy expertise to her role, spending the first part of her career as a political reporter.
Shachi Kurl is a recipient of the prestigious Jack Webster Award for Best TV Reporting. Along with former Australian and UK Prime Ministers Julia Gillard and Margaret Thatcher, she is an Alumnus of the US State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program. Her expertise has been sought by policymakers who have invited her to testify before parliamentary committees at the House of Commons. She holds a degree in Journalism and Political Science from Carleton University.

Angus Reid has been a 3-time all-star, 2-time Grey Cup Champion and 5-time team captain. Now retired from football, Angus played in 200 professional games over 13 years in the Canadian Football League for the BC Lions (placing him in the top 5 all time for games played by a BC Lion).
Today, Angus is known internationally for his speaking engagements. His high energy and memorable story telling resonates and motivates audiences of all ages. Speaking from real life experiences, Angus shares proven strategies and insights that help his audience exceed personal and organizational goals, including important leadership topics such as Improving Team Culture, Mastering the Skill of Trust, and Tackling Transition.
Angus has also written a weekly newspaper column for the Vancouver Province, hosted a radio show on the Team 1040 and is currently the host of Global TV’s “CrimeStoppers” and “The Monday Morning Blitz”. Angus lives with his wife and son in metro Vancouver.
